FIVE years into the future

In five years I want to be in college, studying to be a vetrinarian. I want to go to MSU, (Michigan State University) because they have one of the best vetrinarian programs in the country. To reach my goal I need to be successful in high school, by gettin good grades. I have a 3.2 GPA so I'm doing, good with high school I'm going to graduate next year. And a couple of months after that I want to be enrolled at MSU.

During my summer intership, I learned several things, some skills that I learned in soft skills were how to make a resume, and a cover letter. These will help me in the future when I am looking for a job. I also learned how to create, and manage a checking account. I learned how to create a successful business plan. So overall I've had a great summer, I made alot of money, learned a lot of things, and meade a bunch of new friends.

Today we looked up different jobs that are in the field of alternative energy. I looked up solar energy and took a page of notes. Today we found out that we are going to have an essay contest about anything that has to do with alternative energy. Whoever wins gets a $20 gift card to best buy. I hope I win.

Today on Jul 29, 2009. Mr. Kory came and told us about Census.gov its a goverment website.. (&& its free) it told us the population for whatever city and state you may want to know about. It breaks it down to housing, employment, and etc.... In a couple of minutes were going to take a nice walk around the park. Finally a break from this classroom I've been in here all week. We didn't have a field trip on tuesday because it was cancelled. :) Holla

We had a guest speaker come in his name was Ray Chrisman. He specializes in biochar science. He came in a spoke to us for an hour about his job. He showed us different power points about global warming, and how biochar could help to cut back on our Co2 output. I think that he did a great job with his presentation I came out of it with alot more information thatn i had before. Some things that I learned was how biochar is made, and how much it usually cost. He gave us some interesting facts, like biochar was discovered in Africa in big field and it was estimated to have been 500 - 7000 years ago. He showed us some slides of global warming and other slides that showed whole cities, and towns underwater in 50 years if global warming kept going the way it is now. This really got me thinking about my carbon footprint, and recycling, and other things. I think that a good way to get money would to be to go to certain company's and work for them to help them reduce there carbon footprint. This would make me money and help them save money and at the same time get them more customers because now a days everyone likes a company that's going green.

3 WEEKS IN

well im in this new Alternative Energy intership over the next 6 weeks. its kind of fun i got alot of cool ppl in my group. i have alot of fun. and we do alot of interesting things.

WEEK 1: We got to know each other, and started our first experiment - we had made 12 different mixtures of treatment. with these ingredients ( Compost, dirt, and biochar ) we applied each treatment to half of a plate and filled the other side with regular dirt. we used 3 plates for each treatment and applied 8 worms to each plate.

WEEK 2: We checked on the worms that were in the plates. and recorded our data the whole point of the experiment was to see if worms would like the mixtures we made. and it turns out that they actually seemed to like it more than the regular dirt that was on the other side of the plate. We recorded our data and moved on to the next experiment. Our next experiment was doing the same thing but instead of putting our treatments into plates we put them into 12 seperate groups with 12 pots in each group. we labeled our groups T1 - T12. Then a couple dayz later we planted 3 beans in each pot and placed them in a garden and watered them.

WEEK 3: We checked on the plants everyday and watered them. we checked to see which ones sprouted, and recorded our data. one day we had a guest speaker Dr. Ray Chrispin, he came in and spoke to us about his experience with biochar and what he was involved with. i thought that overall he gave us alot of information even thou at times it was hard to stay awake. another day we watched and INCONVEINENT TRUTH. with Al Gore it was a terrific movie i loved it. It had alot of great information it really got me thinking about what i could do. this was one of the best documentary films i've ever seen. i think that everyone in my intership would agree in saying that was a great film.
